An operation to extinguish a peat fire continues in Petrikov District, Gomel Oblast. The burn area has been reduced from 85 hectares to 75 hectares. The pillar of smoke is visible practically from any part of the district. Personnel and vehicles of the Emergencies Ministry, transport vehicles of the Petrikov forestry enterprise, machines of the Petrikov ameliorative systems enterprise, and local agricultural enterprises are deployed to fight the fire. Crops near the fire area had to be gathered in fast. It was not necessary to evacuate residents of nearby populated localities.
