Tickets for 2021 IIHF World Championship to go on sale in September

MINSK, 2 July (BelTA) - Tickets for the 2021 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, which will be held in Minsk and Riga, will go on sale in September, Chairman of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation Gennady Savilov told the media in Minsk on 1 Jule, BelTA has learned.

“We plan to start selling tickets in early September. We are working closely on this," said Gennady Savilov.

“We are happy with the way the teams were drawn. Minsk will host the teams which we wanted to see here,” he said.

When asked about the results of the sporting year for Belarusian hockey players, Gennady Savilov said that despite the pandemic, he is happy with the way things are going in Belarusian hockey. “Last year in hockey wrapped up early because of the pandemic. There was no World Championship, or the World U18 Championship in the United States which we were so looking forward. Nevertheless, we are satisfied with the way the preparations for the 2021 IIHF World Championship (economic and organizational-sports activities) are going. Anyway, we know which direction to go. This is about popularizing ice hockey. We do not forget about the sports component either. We will continue to support children's and youth sports schools, national teams,” the head of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation added.

The 84th edition of the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship will be held in Minsk and Riga on 21 May – 6 June 2021. Minsk will host Group A: Russia, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Slovakia, Denmark, Belarus and Great Britain. Riga will be the host of Group B: Canada, Finland, USA, Germany, Latvia, Norway, Italy, Kazakhstan. Minsk Arena will be the venue of the final game on 6 June.
