MINSK, 8 November (BelTA) – Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus has fought her way into the final of the WTA Finals in Riyadh, BelTA has learned.

The world No.1 battled past Amanda Anisimova of the USA (World No.4) in a three-set semifinal, securing victory with a score of 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 after 2 hours and 22 minutes on court.

This sets up a final clash on 8 November where the Belarusian will compete against Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina (World No.6), who earlier overcame Jessica Pegula of the USA (World No.5) in a three-set semifinal, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. The final starts at 7:00 p.m. Minsk time with a live broadcast on the Belarus 5 TV Channel.

The history between the players favors Sabalenka, who has won 8 of their 13 WTA matches. Her dominance has continued this season, with two victories in their three meetings.

$5.2 million and 1,500 ranking points are at stake in the final. Last year’s champion was Coco Gauff, who defeated China’s Zheng Qinwen in the final. Aryna Sabalenka lost to Gauff in the semifinals. Sabalenka is making her fifth appearance at the WTA Finals. In 2022, she reached the final where she lost to France’s Caroline Garcia.
