MINSK, 7 February (BelTA) - Preparing skis for Olympic participants in Italy and correctly adapting to changing weather conditions - the secrets of a quality service team’s work were shared by Belarusian coach Oleg Bykovskikh, BelTA learned from the National Olympic Committee.
The quality work of a service team plays a crucial role in the success of athletes in many winter sports. Oleg Bykovskikh explained how skis are prepared for Belarusian athlete Hanna Karaliova. “A pair of skis can be prepared in 20 minutes, but finding the correct combination of glide and grip wax requires significantly more time. Sometimes weather conditions can change 10 minutes before the start, and it’s crucial to quickly assess the situation and make the right decision. We arrived several days ago and are currently training. The conditions are workable. The organizers are doing their best and fulfilling requests,” he said, adding that specialists use the most modern technologies to determine the optimal ski glide options.
Oleg Bykovskikh, by the way, is wearing a cap at the Games, a gift from his son before the trip to Italy - for good luck.
