MINSK, 21 March (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number one Aryna Sabalenka saw off world number 64 Viktoriya Tomova of Bulgaria, 6-3, 6-0 in 58 minutes to book the Miami Open third-round spot, BelTA has learned.
Aryna Sabalenka will next play World No.102 Elena-Gabriela Ruse of Romania.
Three-time Miami Open winner, world number 32 Victoria Azarenka of Belarus went off to a good start in this year’s edition beating world number 55 Anhelina Kalinina of Ukraine, 6-3, 6-1 in the opener. The Belarusian will next face World No.14 Karolina Muchova of the Czech Republic. Victoria Azarenka won the event in Miami in 2009, 2011, and 2016.
The total prize money in the 2025 Miami Open, which is to be over on 30 March, is $8.9 million. The winner will earn $1.2 million and 1,000 points.
