Litvinovich: We will still hear Belarusian anthem in sports arenas

MINSK, 4 August (BelTA) – Two-time Olympic champion Ivan Litvinovich told journalists in Paris that the Belarusian anthem will be played in sports arenas, the Inside The Games website reported.

When asked about the generic tune that was commissioned by the IOC and played instead of the Belarusian national anthem during the medal ceremony, Ivan Litvinovich noted: “What is there to say? It's different. Our anthem is better and I hope we will be able to participate in competitions listening it,” he told reporters.

Responding to a question about how he feels at the Olympic Games as a neutral athlete, Ivan Litvinovich said: “I don't want to answer these questions. You ask these questions to provoke me. I will only answer questions about sport,” he said.

On 2 August, reigning Olympic champion in trampoline gymnastics Ivan Litvinovich came out on top to retain his title from the Tokyo Olympics, while Viyaleta Bardzilouskaya clinched silver in the women’s trampoline final. Rower Yauheni Zalaty added another silver to the country's medal tally when he finished second in the men's single sculls event.
