MINSK, 27 May (BelTA) - Belarusians Anastasiya Kuliashova and Grigori Pekarski became medalists at the second stage of the international swimming series Mare Nostrum, which got underway in Canet-en-Roussillon, France, BelTA has learned.
Anastasiya Kuliashova claimed silver in the women’s 50m butterfly. The Belarusian finished second among 35 swimmers in the morning heats and retained second place in the evening final with a time of 26.13 seconds, finishing just 0.02 seconds behind Canada’s Taylor Ruck. Last week, Anastasiya Kuliashova won bronze at the Mare Nostrum stage in Monaco.
Grigori Pekarski also reached the podium in the men’s 50m butterfly. The Belarusian ranked seventh among 93 competitors in the morning session before gaining the second-fastest time in the final (23.26 seconds). Victory went to Canada’s Ilya Kharun.
On 27 May, Vladimir Mamekin placed ninth in the 50m backstroke and finished 16th in the 200m event.
