Belarus aims to deepen cooperation with Russia in transboundary water resources management

MINSK, 27 May (BelTA) – Belarus intends to strengthen cooperation with Russia in transboundary water resources management, the press service of the Belarusian Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry told BelTA.

In Dushanbe, Tajikistan, Belarusian Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Viktor Galanov and Director of the Central Scientific Research Institute for Integrated Water Resources Management Olga Kovzunova took part in the 4th High-Level International Conference dedicated to the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028”.

Talks were held with members of the Russian Federation’s delegation aimed at strengthening cooperation in the management of transboundary water resources.

Further steps to enhance partnership with representatives of the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring (Russia) were also discussed.

Viktor Galanov held negotiations with the chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. The main topic was the development and signing of a roadmap (action plan) for implementing the memorandum.

“We continue systematic work to advance international environmental dialogue,” the ministry’s press service noted.
