MINSK, 26 May (BelTA) – Algeria is keen to learn from Belarus’ experience in developing multiple areas, Speaker of the National People’s Assembly of the Algerian parliament Ibrahim Boughali said during the meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk on 26 May, BelTA has learned.
Ibrahim Boughali extended the Algerian president’s warm greetings and high regards to the Belarusian leader, reaffirming Algeria’s commitment to joint efforts in boosting bilateral cooperation. “Your visit last December [the Belarusian president paid an official visit to Algeria in December 2025] resonated deeply with the public and sent a strong message to the Algerian people about your commitment to strengthening and developing cooperation in various areas, including economy, trade, agriculture, science, and culture. We believe there are immense opportunities to boost trade, enhance economic cooperation, and set up joint ventures to serve the well-being of our nations,” the speaker of the National People’s Assembly of the Algerian parliament emphasized.
Ibrahim Boughali noted that Algeria is currently focused on economic diversification and reducing its reliance on hydrocarbons, with the country aiming to develop agriculture, industry, and pharmaceuticals. “We need Belarus’ expertise to strengthen these industries and step up our efforts in these areas. I am confident there are great prospects for joint work here,” he said.
