MINSK, 20 November (BelTA) - Best Athletes Cup in Swimming has kicked off in Minsk’s world-class swimming pool, BelTA has learned.
“Over the years of my career, I’ve competed in various parts of the world, but this is my first time in Belarus. I thank you for the invitation; it’s an interesting experience for me. I didn’t come here as a tourist. I want to challenge Ilya Shymanovich,” multiple world champion Kirill Prigoda said. “We need to develop the swimming relations between our countries; we have been through difficult situations together. Belarusians have always been on our side, participating in Russian events and providing good competition. The guys from our team are in good spirits, and it’s nice to see the attention being given to these competitions in Minsk.”
The morning session on 20 November featured qualifying heats in twelve events. On Thursday evening, 11 finals will be held: eight individual and three relay events (starting at 5:00 pm). Best Athletes Cup in Swimming will continue until 23 November, with a total of 46 medal events in the program.
