Belarusian Maryna Zuyeva makes top ten in 5000m at World Cup in Netherlands

MINSK, 6 December (BelTA) - Belarusian athlete Maryna Zuyeva earned qualifying points for the Olympic selection at the ISU Speed Skating World Cup 3 in the Netherlands.

On the first day of the World Cup in Heerenveen, the Belarusian athlete competed in the 5000m event.  She clocked 6:53.46 securing fourth place in Division B. When factoring in the results from Division A, Maryna goes 9th in the overall ranking among the 48 participants. The best time of the day was set by Dutch skater Sanne in 't Hof (6:47.65), while victory in Division A was claimed by Norway's Ragne Wiklund (6:49.01).

In the overall World Cup standings for long-track events, Maryna Zuyeva is ranked 14th with 81 points. To secure an Olympic quota for the 3000m, it is sufficient to finish within the top 15. To earn a spot in the 5000m in Milan, it is necessary to make it into the top nine.

The World Cup in Heerenveen will conclude on Sunday. The decisive World Cup 4, which will finalize the roster for the 2026 Games, will be hosted by Hamar, Norway on 12-14 December.
