Belarus’ Zalaty advances to 2025 World Rowing Championships semifinal

MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) - Belarusian rower Yauheni Zalaty has advanced to the semifinals of the 2025 World Rowing Championships in Shanghai, BelTA has learned.

The quarterfinals featured 24 athletes, with the top twelve moving forward. In his heat, Yauheni Zalaty, the Paris Olympics silver medalist, finished first clocking 7:11:20, outpacing rowers from New Zealand, Romania, Croatia, Estonia, and Poland. The reigning European champion from Belarus will continue his quest for a spot in the final on Friday morning.

Also competing at the global sporting forum in China are Belarus’ Tatsiana Klimovich and Alena Furman, who have reached the final in the women's double sculls. Medals in this event will be awarded on 26 September.
