Vladimir Lukyanov
MINSK, 29 January (BelTA) - The agro-industrial sector should form large integrated structures, as the market currently demands major players, Vladimir Lukyanov, General Director of Agrokombinat Dzerzhinsky, told the media following his report to Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on 29 January, BelTA has learned.
The president, in his opening statement, called the enterprise a “giant”, pointing to its massive production output and vast land holdings. Today Agrokombinat Dzerzhinsky operates in nine districts of Minsk Oblast, and discussions are underway about the possibility of further expanding the enterprise by incorporating other assets, including less successful ones, in other regions of the country. This was precisely the topic discussed during the meeting with the president.
“The times compel us to develop and create huge integrated structures. Why? To participate in international markets, to trade,” Vladimir Lukyanov explained. According to him, small enterprises in the agro-industrial complex find it very difficult to conquer markets on their own for objective reasons. This is especially true when it comes to promoting their products abroad and interacting with major retail chains and retailers. “They need large players,” the head of Agrokombinat Dzerzhinsky said.
He explained that the enterprise’s expansion and scaling are planned through the acquisition of specialized assets. Even if their current condition is far from optimal, Agrokombinat Dzerzhinsky is prepared to invest in order to turn the situation around. Moreover, it is capable of doing so within a short timeframe.

“Every plant, every enterprise we take over requires certain processes - both economic and technological, including modernization (which always entails costs). We have the finances, and we strive, within the shortest possible period, up to a year, a year and a half, to simultaneously carry out modernization, establish processes, and bring the acquired enterprises to profitable operation. This is fast. Given that our base is substantial and considering we are already established in the business, it is easier to lift up and advance these units than to start from scratch,” said Vladimir Lukyanov.
