Belarus wins opener at China basketball tournament

MINSK, 15 August (BelTA) – The Belarusian national basketball team has made a winning start at Central Asia International Basketball Men's Tournament 2025 in China’s Yining, BelTA reports.

In their opening match on 15 August, Andrei Krivonos’s team defeated China with a 13-point advantage, finishing 92-79. The Belarusian team will face Uzbekistan on 16 August, followed by their final match against Kazakhstan on 17 August.

The roster features reserve players from the senior national team: Daniil Barysevich, Kiryl Vaskautsou, Artsiom Sekushenka, Danila Semianiuk, Andrei Ozhgo, David-Masenge Mukete, Maksim Maskalchuk, Kanstantsin Pasko, Pavel Rabushko, Ivan Terekhov, Siarhei Lemiasheuski and Kiryl Vinakurau.

Andrei Krivonos noted that the event marks Belarus’s long-awaited return to international play, so this is a good opportunity to compete in China and to test the team against strong opponents. The coach said that with most core players having joined Russian and foreign clubs to prepare for the new season, the roster features athletes from Belarus’s domestic league.
