Belarus’ Shymanovich, Russia’s Kozyreva fight through to WTA doubles final in USA

MINSK, 8 November (BelTA) – Belarusian tennis player Iryna Shymanovich and Russia’s Maria Kozyreva have advanced to the doubles final of the WTA-125 tournament in Austin, USA, with a prize fund of $115,000, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian-Russian tandem needed just an hour and a half to overcome the German-Dutch duo Anna-Lena Friedsam and Arantxa Rus in three sets, 5-7, 6-3, 10-4. Previously, they secured a quarterfinal victory over the U.S. duo Catherine Harrison and Alana Smith with a score of 6-2, 6-4. Meanwhile, in singles, Iryna Shymanovich (World No.158) fell to Canada’s Kayla Cross (World No.250) in three sets, 6-2, 2-6, 1-6.

The tournament in Austin will conclude on 9 November.
