MINSK, 4 January (BelTA) – On behalf of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, Chairperson of the Council Natalya Kochanova condemned the armed aggression of the United States against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. This statement was published on the Council of the Republic’s Telegram channel, BelTA has learned.
“My colleagues and I strongly condemn the armed aggression of the United States against Venezuela and consider it an unlawful attack on a sovereign state and a violation of the norms and principles of international law,” the statement reads.
It is noted that strikes carried out not only against military targets but also against government buildings, including the country’s parliament, leave no doubt that these actions constitute “armed aggression”.
“We call on the international community and the parliaments of UN member states to firmly condemn the aggression against sovereign Venezuela and to urge the United States to comply with international law and the Charter of the United Nations,” the statement says.
Members of the Council of the Republic expressed strong support for the people of Venezuela in these difficult times and expressed solidarity with their colleagues from the National Assembly.
