MINSK, 4 November (BelTA) – Belarusian weightlifter Darya Kheidzer has claimed silver at the European Junior and U23 Weightlifting Championships in Durres, Albania, BelTA has learned.
The athlete made the top three in the women’s U23 86kg category. Kheidzer opened her snatch session with a good 95kg lift and improved to 101kg on her second attempt. Moving to the clean and jerk, she made lifts of 115kg and 120kg. Darya Kheidzer claimed the small silver medals in both events and also finished second overall with a total of 221kg. The victory went to Armenia’s Liana Gyurjyan who posted a total of 232kg.
Earlier on 3 November, Belarusian weightlifter Katsiaryna Liashchuk finished eighth in the women’s +86kg junior category. In the previous days of the continental championships, Belarusians Dziyana Maiseyevich and Andrei Fralou won gold medals in the total, while Yahor Papou and Ihnatsi Pauliukavets clinched silver.
