MINSK, 14 February (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes have secured four gold medals at the Tunis Junior African Cup 2026 for athletes under 21 in Tunisia, BelTA has learned.
Belarusian team was represented by 14 athletes, seven of whom reached the finals in their respective weight categories. Dzianis Shtyk (-66kg) defeated his compatriot Matvei Sychou; Anton Dubovik (-81kg) overcame teammate Yauheni Harbachou; Yauheni Morau (-100kg) proved stronger than Iran’s Ali Reza Nikseresht; Viyaleta Fiodarava (-63kg) got the better of Egypt’s Boushra Edris; while Diana Grigorenko (-52kg) lost to Amina Alaoui of Morocco.
Belarusian team’s haul also includes three bronze medals, won by Stanislau Alkhou (-81kg), Maksim Strokun (-90kg), and Aryna Makeyenka (-48kg). Hryhory Zurnachan (-60kg) and Mikita Zaitsau (-81kg) were unsuccessful in their bronze medal bouts.
A total of 125 athletes from 19 countries took part in the tournament. Junior athletes will compete in Tunisia on 14 February, and on 15 February, the venue will host an African Open tournament for senior athletes.
