MINSK, 22 January (BelTA) - Belarusian athlete Uladzislau Berazavik has become a medalist at the first leg of the international modern pentathlon tournament Pavel Lednev Cup 2026, BelTA has learned.
The first leg took place in Kirov. Six Belarusians and twelve Russians competed in the men’s final. Uladzislau Berazavik proved best among Belarusians, who had posted the best result in the semifinal on 20 January. Today, based on the combined scores from four events (fencing, obstacle course, swimming, laser run), Uladzislau Berazavik earned 1,583 points to finish second, just seven seconds behind the winner, Andrei Bobrov from Moscow.
The top three was rounded out by Kirill Manuilo from Samara Oblast (1,570). Two more Belarusians made it into the top ten: Uladzislau Nestsiarau placed fifth, followed by Nazar Sivitsky. Belarus’ Yauheni Arol finished 13th, Maksim Fiadotka was 14th, and Ivan Khamtsou closed the final standings. In total, 73 athletes, including twenty Belarusians, participated in the men’s event in Kirov.
The day before, Belarus’ Mariya Gnedtchik claimed victory in the women’s first leg, while her teammate Natallia Saviankova rounded out the top five.
The modern pentathlon event Pavel Lednev Cup has been held since 2022. Last season, Belarusians Akim Gnedtchik and Viyaleta Hureyeva won the gold medals at the final tournament. Mariya Gnedtchik is a two-time trophy winner (2023, 2024).
