MINSK, 14 January (BelTA) – The Belarusian national beach soccer team is gearing up for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, BelTA has learned.
Nicolas Alvarado’s team are set to gather in Minsk on 14 January and head for Iran to hold a training camp. In Bushehr the Belarusian team will play three matches with the national team of Iran – on 18, 20 and 21 January. The Belarusian team will be back home on 23 January. Belarus goes 5th in the world rankings, Iran – 6th.
The first stage of preparations for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup was the December training camp in St. Petersburg. The Belarusians played two matches with local clubs there. The visitors first secured a confident win, 7-3, over Lex, and then lost to Russian champion Kristall 4-5. A training camp in the United Arab Emirates and matches with the UAE team are scheduled for February. In March the Belarusians will again travel to St. Petersburg and play friendlies with the Russian national team.
The 2025 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup will be held in the Seychelles on 1-11 May 2025. Belarus played in the past three editions of the championship, placing 4th in 2024, and failed to make it to the playoffs in 2019 and 2021. The team of Nicolas Alvarado became the bronze medalist of the 2024 Euro Beach Soccer League.
