MINSK, 13 January (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number 22 Victoria Azarenka lost 2-6, 6-7 (2-7) to world number 78 Lucia Bronzetti of Italy in the Australian Open first round, BelTA has learned.
The match lasted for two hours and six minutes. In round two the Italian will face either Croatia’s World No.132 Petra Martic or Romania’s World No.85 Jaquelline Cristian.
Australian Open reigning champion, world number one Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus defeated world number 84 Sloane Stephens of the United States in the first round. She will next take on Spain’s World No.52 Jessica Bouzas Maneiro.
