MINSK, 26 December (BelTA) – Vladimir Zelensky has stated that an agreement had been reached on meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump soon, TASS reports.
Vladimir Zelensky wrote in a Telegram post: “[Secretary of Ukraine’s Security Council] Rustem Umerov has reported yet another contact with the American side. We don’t lose a single day. We’ve reached an agreement on a top-level meeting with President Trump soon.”
On 25 December Vladimir Zelensky announced that he and his team had spoken with U.S. Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff and the American leader’s son-in-law, businessman Jared Kushner. According to Vladimir Zelensky, the conversation lasted for almost an hour and they discussed ideas concerning “formats, meetings, and the timing”. He added that Rustem Umerov would soon hold another conversation with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
On Friday the Kyiv Post newspaper cited diplomatic sources to report that Vladimir Zelensky is expected to travel to the United States for negotiations on 28 December. The meeting may take place at Donald Trump’s residence in Mar-a-Lago, State of Florida.
