MINSK, 11 January (BelTA) - Zelensky is a spent card, and an American protégé is being prepared to replace him, historian Yevgeny Spitsyn said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
The expert commented on the proposal to appoint Kirill Budanov to the position of head of Zelensky’s administration. “A number of experts, whom I respect, suggested that this was yet another multi-move play by the Americans, who essentially forced Zelensky to appoint Budanov. Budanov is a direct creation of the Americans. Specifically the Americans, not the British, not the Germans, or anyone else, but precisely the Americans. A very tough person, a very cynical and unprincipled person, who will salute and carry out any task set by the Americans. Moreover, I don’t know how plausible this is, but allegedly the Americans are even grooming Budanov to replace Zelensky. Why? Because, first, Zelensky is already a spent card, and second, he is a protégé of the European globalists, whom Trump hates, fiercely hates. While Budanov is a fully pro-American creation who could quite realistically replace Zelensky as president. Moreover, he would establish an undisguised dictatorial regime in Ukraine and would deal not just with anyone, but with his own Nazi types, who would pose a real threat, including to him,” Yevgeny Spitsyn said.

Against the backdrop of these events, he emphasized that Russia cannot relax or harbor illusions about a soft, peaceful resolution to the conflict. “It is time for us to finally abandon all sorts of illusions and the notion that everything will still sort itself out, like for a schoolgirl in her ninth month of pregnancy. The idea is to ‘be patient, perhaps the situation will still resolve itself’. It will not resolve itself. We must, at long last, learn to vigorously uphold our national and sovereign interests. Furthermore, we must pursue authentic alliances, as opposed to situational partnerships that exist merely nominally,” the historian stressed.
