Zaslavl hosts Dazhynki regional harvest festival

MINSK DISTRICT, 20 September (BelTA) - Zaslavl played host to the Dazhynki regional harvest festival on 20 September, BelTA has learned

The celebration began with a ceremony to lay a time capsule with a message for future generations beneath the site of a future sports and recreation complex. Among the significant new additions in the historic center of the city is a unique open-air museum, the first of its kind in Belarus. Here, behind glass displays, visitors can explore the history of Zaslavl, which marks its 1,040th anniversary this year.

At the castle site, following excavations, visitors can now see fragments of the entrance gate which had been hidden beneath layers of earth. The site is currently being conserved, but after design work and restoration, Zaslavl tourist attractions will gain another valuable location. To the great delight of children, the Youth Park, spanning nearly 6 hectares, offers diverse activities, from a football field with artificial turf to various sports courts.

Minsk Oblast boasts an abundance of bread and more which is evident in the endless rows of district displays: from traditional bread loaves and baskets overflowing with vegetables and fruits to an array of meat delicacies. There’s also space for innovations from local producers. For instance, agricultural producers from Borisov District are showcasing purple wheat, while cheesemakers from Slutsk are offering samples of cheese ice cream.

Thousands of visitors have gathered in Zaslavl to witness this spectacle, with guests arriving from various districts of Minsk Oblast and beyond.
Today, the honored participants of the harvest will receive their well-deserved awards, and tomorrow they will return to the fields: to plant winter crops, to harvest corn and prepare fodder.
