Young designers' fashion show in Minsk features 80 finalists from four countries

MINSK, 30 January (BelTA) - A spectacular fashion show by young designers titled Constellation was held at Belarusian State University, BelTA has learned.

The final event of the contest took place at the Dzerzhinsky Lyceum of BSU. Dean of the Faculty of Sociocultural Communications at BSU Aleksandr Burachonok noted that the Constellation contest for young designers was held for the third time. "It presents the pieces made by students of Belarusian universities and colleges - future designers. Participants from Russia, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan also joined us. In total, around 200 applications were submitted and an expert jury selected 80 works. In the final, these works are presented in three categories: Fashion Designer, Single Model Competition and Fashion Sketch,” he explained. The jury included renowned experts from the Belarusian fashion industry. “When evaluating, I will consider the novelty and creativity,” said Svetlana Bondarchuk, Director of the Slutsk Sashes company, a jury member. “Additionally, I will assess the models as a designer. Young designers often stand out in their quality of execution. I really like their techniques, they're excellent.”

Yekaterina Vidmanova, a graduate of the Faculty of Sociocultural Communications at BSU, is participating with her diploma work. “My collection is called Seven Deadly Sins. It is an interpretation of the seven deadly sins through the lens of everyday life. This is my diploma work, with which I graduated from BSU, and by the way, it received the highest grade. I am presenting a women's fashion collection for youth aged 18–25. It is essentially classic, everyday wear- suits, dresses - but made from unusual materials in bright colors. For example, the predominant material I use is velvet in quite vibrant colors like green, pink, blue, black. These combinations are currently extremely relevant,” she said.
Maria Runets-Bats, a student at the Academy of Architecture and Arts of the Southern Federal University (Russia), brought her elegant women's fashion collection Impera to the contest. The source of inspiration for the aspiring designer was medieval knightly attire, particularly the image of Joan of Arc. “I was also inspired by the music album of the Swedish rock band Ghost. That's why my collection is a blend of medieval and modern. It's the image of a strong woman that is relevant today. The color palette of the collection also references knightly themes. The choice of materials fell on chains and metal, both a trend and a nod to the Middle Ages. For me, the festival is a great opportunity to showcase myself, see how others are doing, exchange experiences, maybe meet colleagues and exchange creative energy. This is my first time in Belarus, it was interesting to come to Minsk, and I'm still impressed by the city's architecture,” the young woman noted.
The Constellation festival-contest is a unique platform for supporting talented youth, fostering creative exchange of ideas and experiences among students and potential employers.
