VITEBSK, 2 September (BelTA) – On the sidelines of the 3rd Belarus-Uzbekistan Women’s Business Forum in Vitebsk, held as part of the visit of the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Belarus, representatives of the Belarusian Women’s Union and the Committee of Family and Women of Uzbekistan signed a memorandum of understanding, BelTA has learned.
This is the third time the representatives of the Belarusian Women’s Union are taking part in such a large-scale event. At the forum in Vitebsk, they are discussing not only new agreements but also the achieved results. “We are glad that Vitebsk is hosting us this time. The two previous forums were held in Minsk and Tashkent, and now it is being held in Vitebsk. It seems symbolic because it is a women’s city and, without exaggeration, home to the most beautiful girls in Belarus. It is nice that our Uzbek guests will also see and enjoy this beautiful city, its history, the city of Chagall. I am sure they will enjoy their time in Vitebsk. This third forum is a continuation of the relations that were laid two years ago at the first one. Much has been done during this time, and we are not only talking about the economy, because women entrepreneurs interact not only in the economic sphere. In general, women entrepreneurs are not only about money, it is also about the social sphere, helping those in need. It is about joint projects aimed at the health of women and children, and we will talk about this today at the panel sessions. There are many joint educational programs we want to implement, and many joint medical programs as well. There is a lot to learn from each other. Even in terms of how women’s organizations work, there is experience to share because our Belarusian Women’s Union is a public organization, while in Uzbekistan it is a governmental organization, and they pay special attention to reaching every woman,” Chairwoman of the Belarusian Women’s Union Olga Shpilevskaya told reporters.

The meeting, which took place in a warm atmosphere at the Vitebsk Art Museum, saw the representatives of the two countries discuss cooperation areas, share best practices in education, entrepreneurship, culture, and social support, raise the topic of joint projects and initiatives, and identify priority areas for future collaboration. The participants signed a memorandum of understanding on the development of bilateral relations between the Business Women’s Club under the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and the union titled as Women Entrepreneurs and Businesswomen of Uzbekistan and the united organization of business entities of the Belarusian Women’s Union.

First Deputy Chairwoman of the Committee of Family and Women of Uzbekistan Umida Abdullayeva told reporters that women from her country are interested in how Belarus deals with the upbringing of the younger generation and the preservation of the institution of the family. “We are interested in what Belarusian women do for their families, how they raise their children, what their priorities are when it comes to moral education. We note that in this era of globalization, there is a massive flow of information. We must develop our children’s immunity to it and instill in them our moral values, with family values being the most important,” she emphasized.
