MINSK, 23 March (BelTA) – The World Health Organization has mentioned the high level of availability of assisted lung ventilation equipment in Belarus, BelTA learned from Belarusian Deputy Healthcare Minister Yelena Bogdan.
According to the World Health Organization, there are 22 assisted lung ventilation devices per 100,000 capita in Belarus. “If we include anesthesia breathing systems, the availability will be 38 per 100,000 capita. Meanwhile, the figure stands at 18 per 100,000 capita in the USA, 8.3 per 100,000 capita in Italy, and 12.9 in the UK,” Yelena Bogdan said. In her words, these figures allow evaluating the resources and calculating various options for providing medical aid.
In terms of the number of tests per 1 million capita Belarus is ranked ninth among the countries where COVID-19 virus cases have been registered. Over 21,000 coronavirus tests have been taken in Belarus since 23 January.
