MINSK, 10 February (BelTA) – Several military units have been placed on alert as part of an Armed Forces inspection conducted at the president’s instruction, State Secretary of the Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich told journalists, BelTA reports.
He outlined the tasks military personnel will perform during the inspection: “We will practice bringing military units of the immediate response force to peacetime combat readiness. We will also check the loading of materiel and weapons, conducting marches to designated areas and lines, including near the state border. During these tasks, we will practice countering enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups. Upon arrival in the designated areas, a system of engineer obstacles will be established at the assigned lines, and defensive combat will be practiced. After tactical exercises under simulated enemy sabotage and reconnaissance activity, the formations and units will return to training grounds, where they will undergo firearms and physical training exercises,” emphasized the state secretary of the Security Council.
Upon completion of all activities, the results will be thoroughly analyzed. “We will then continue working in accordance with the president’s inspection plan,” Aleksandr Volfovich concluded.
As BelTA reported earlier, the large-scale inspection of the Armed Forces on the order of the head of state began on 16 January. Aleksandr Lukashenko is personally overseeing its progress. A new system has been developed whereby the president, bypassing the Defense Ministry and the General Staff, places military units on combat alert. The primary goal of such an inspection is to see the objective picture. This is precisely why the checks are conducted without warning.
