LYUBAN DISTRICT, 16 January (BelTA) - State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich briefed the media on the situation at Belarus’ borders, BelTA has learned.
“We see what is happening on the adjacent territory. We saw the drills recently conducted by the Americans at the training ground in Pabradė [in Lithuania]. A unit of 900 personnel located 15 km from the border,” said Aleksandr Volfovich. “There are aircraft overflights, reconnaissance, and actions by special operations forces along our state border.”
The state secretary of the Security Council noted that Belarus does not pursue a policy that provokes its neighbors to such actions: “All our activities and drills are conducted deep within our country’s territory, at remote training grounds. Without provoking anyone or threatening anyone. We are not increasing our Armed Forces. Yes, we are focusing on quality, maintenance, training, and the careful upkeep of equipment.”

Aleksandr Volfovich emphasized that Belarus was and remains a peace-loving country, ready for good-neighborly, constructive relations and dialogue.
