Urban planning discussed at international forum in Minsk

MINSK, 30 November (BelTA) – Modern urban design and planning were discussed during the international forum Efficient Environment in Minsk on 29 November. It was the second forum on record, BelTA has learned.

This year’s forum brought together about 30 experts in the field of architecture and urban planning from Belarus and other countries. Vision was the forum’s theme.

An extensive and varied program was prepared for the forum participants. They learned about current trends and efficient solutions for urban development based on the speakers’ personal expertise and the projects they had implemented. In addition to presentations, lectures, case studies, and master classes two key panel sessions were held on the topics of “Methods for preventing visual noise in the urban environment” and “An efficient urban environment as a conscious human need.”
During the forum an award ceremony was held for the winners of an international architectural contest for the development of an effective residential block in the city of Brest. Sixty-three entries were submitted to the contest by participants from 27 cities in Belarus and Russia.

Thematic exhibitions and special expositions were prepared for guests and participants of the forum where they could see concepts for the transformation of urban public spaces in Minsk as well as modern architectural solutions aimed at creating a quality urban environment. Apart from that, exhibitions were opened to present the synthesis of arts and modern building materials as well as a special exposition on the master plan of the historic center of the town of Nesvizh.
The event was organized by the design company VIASET and the Belarusian Union of Architects. The real estate developer BNK Estate was a co-organizer. It was assisted by the Architecture and Construction Ministry of the Republic of Belarus, the Brest City Executive Committee and the Brest Oblast Executive Committee, the International Association of Unions of Architects, and the Union of Architects of Russia. The engineering company Ecovo was a general partner of the forum.
