Union State awards in science and technology presented in Minsk

MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) – The ceremony to present the Union State awards in science and technology took place in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

In 2025, the award has been presented to two teams. One of the teams is recognized for developing new spinal systems using prototyping technologies for the surgical treatment of children with severe congenital deformities and spinal injuries. Among the laureates are Belarusian scientists Mikhail Gerasimenko, Kirill Krivorot, Dmitry Tesakov and Russian scientists Sergei Vissarionov, Anna Zaletina, and Dmitry Kokushin.

Another team has been honored for the development and practical application of high-performance information and computing technologies to enhance the resource potential of the mineral resource base of the Union State. Among the winners are Belarusian scientists Sergei Kruglikov, Vladimir Matyushenko, Oleg Chizh and also Russian scientists Igor Melnikov, Vladimir Turchaninov and Igor Kalyaev.

“We have selected the best and most noteworthy projects. Our winners fully meet all criteria. This is collaborative, practice-oriented work. We acknowledge not only the high scientific caliber of our winners but also the projects these were already implemented enabling the treatment of children based on domestic technologies and assisting geological exploration in assessing mineral deposits,” Union State Secretary Sergey Glazyev said during the ceremony.

He emphasized that for the Union State, supporting research and technological progress is a key priority. “We are implementing science and technology programs and projects. Some of these developments are already being successfully applied in practice. I am confident that today's winners will continue their work for the benefit of the Union State and set an example for others,” Sergey Glazyev said.

The historical starting point for the Union State award in science and technology is June 19, 2018, when it was established by a decree of the Supreme State Council of the Union State. On 1 April 2022, the Belarusian president presented the Union State awards in science and technology for the year 2021.

The award is presented to Belarusian and Russian scientists and specialists for outstanding results of joint scientific research, discoveries, and scientific achievements that have significantly enriched global science and made a major contribution to the development of natural, technical, and humanities sciences. It also recognizes the joint development of prototypes of new equipment and advanced technologies that ensure the innovative development of the economy and the social sector and strengthens the defense capabilities of the Union State.
