Some 3,200 people visited Belarusian nuclear power plant’s information center in H1 2024

MINSK, 11 July (BelTA) – In H1 2024 the information center of the Belarusian nuclear power plant attracted about 3,200 people, 23% up from the same period of last year, the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry told BelTA.

The tourist groups included workers of enterprises and organizations belonging to various branches of the economy, representatives of ministries, government agencies, public organizations, the youth, and delegations from Russia, Türkiye, and China.

In the information center visitors can find detailed information about stages of construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. They can also learn interesting facts about the innovative technologies and high-tech equipment used within the framework of the nuclear power plant construction project, the working conditions of the nuclear power plant personnel, the nuclear power plant’s integration into the country’s power grid and the nuclear power plant’s role in ensuring the national energy security.

The number of Belarusians, who speak positively about the influence of nuclear energy on the development of the energy industry and on enhancing energy self-dependence, increased significantly in the last few years. According to the latest sociological studies conducted by the Sociology Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, 58% of those polled are convinced that the situation in the fuel and energy complex improved when the nuclear power plant was commissioned. As many as 15.6% believe that it did not change for the worse. As little as 3% admitted the possibility of the situation worsening. And 23.4% of those polled could not answer the question.
