‘Shuttle Diplomacy’. Expert reveals key points of Ukraine peace plan

MINSK, 3 December (BelTA) - The U.S. peace plan for resolving the conflict in Ukraine has two main points concerning territories and security guarantees, Doctor of Historical Sciences Nikolai Platoshkin said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
Reflecting on the possibility of reaching a compromise that could form the basis for genuine peace talks on Ukraine, the political analyst emphasized that the plan contains two key provisions. These concern territories and security guarantees for Ukraine.

Nikolai Platoshkin referred to the negotiations between Ukrainian and U.S. delegations on the prospects for a peaceful settlement. “They did not reach a common denominator during the two rounds of talks. This is evident from leaks in reputable American press. They disagreed on two issues: territories and security guarantees. They stated that these would be left for Trump and Zelensky to decide. But Trump refuses to meet with Zelensky. Now, it’s shuttle diplomacy - they talk with the Ukrainians, then send the same negotiators, with the exception of [Secretary of State Marco] Rubio, to Moscow, and there they will present the options and ask for their position,” the doctor of historical sciences said.
