Roaming charges for incoming calls canceled in Union State on 1 April

MINSK, 1 April (BelTA) – Roaming charges for incoming calls were canceled in the territory of the Union State on 1 April. The decision was made at a meeting of the High-Level Group under the Union State Council of Ministers on 23 March, BelTA informs.

“Starting from 1 April 2022, subscribers of Belarusian mobile network operators will not pay for incoming calls from Belarus if they use roaming in the territory of the Union State. This was an important result of the work carried out by the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of Belarus together with Belarusian mobile network operators in cooperation with the Russian side,” the press service of the Ministry of Communications and Informatization said.

Previously, a number of important steps were taken towards abolition of roaming charges for incoming calls in the territory of the Union State. On 1 November 2020 Belarusian and Russian mobile network operators significantly reduced effective roaming rates.

Belarusian mobile network operators reduced roaming rates in the Union State from 70% to 80% compared to those in force before 1 November 2020. As a result, roaming rates between Belarus and the Russian Federation became close to the domestic ones.

In September 2021, the pilot operation of designated channels for transmission of roaming traffic in the new conditions was successfully completed in the territory of the Union State.
