MINSK, 23 December (BelTA) - Public discussion of the draft Constitution of Belarus will start next week, Head of the Belarus President Administration Igor Sergeyenko told the media after the meeting with the president to discuss the amendments to the Constitution on 23 December, BelTA has learned.
According to the head of the Belarus President Administration, all the sections of the draft Constitution were once again considered during the meeting. “The decision was taken to launch the public discussion next week. Accordingly, the draft Constitution will be published in the media, on the website of our center [National Center of Legal Information],” said Igor Sergeyenko.
There are no specific deadlines for public discussion: everything will depend on the activity of citizens. “We expect that our citizens will actively respond, make their proposals, which will subsequently be taken into account and finalized during the next stage. We will get the final document following the nationwide discussion at various dialogue platforms, meetings will labor collectives, and the discussion with citizens. The head of state will sign a corresponding decree to announce the day of the referendum,” the head of the Belarus President Administration said.
Citizens can send their proposals to Parliament, the Belarus President Administration, the National Center of Legal Information, and the media. “All opinions will be heard. We are waiting for feedback, constructive suggestions,” Igor Sergeyenko said.
