Polish police tried to force about 70 refugees out to Belarus' border in one day

MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) – Over the past 24 hours, the Polish police tried to squeeze about 70 refugees out to the border, BelTA learned from Head of the Main Directorate of the State Border Committee Andrei Filatov.

“Despite Poland's official statements about adherence to democratic European values, they continue pushing refugee groups to the border with Belarus. Thus, over the past 24 hours, Polish law enforcement tried to force 15 groups of about 70 people out to the border line. Such cases often occur covertly, in the dark, in several places at a time,” Andrei Filatov said.

Poland shows no respect for democratic values and human rights, mistreating and abusing migrants, including women and children.

“It should be noted that a group of 32 migrants still remains at the Belarus-Poland border at the Rusaki border outpost of the Grodno border group. The

refugees undertook another attempt to get to Poland, but were returned back by force despite the United Nations High Commission for Refugees' (UNHCR) appeal to Poland to admit stranded migrants,” Andrei Filatov said.
