MINSK, 9 July (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko is the strongest political leader in Europe today, TV presenter, political observer at the STV TV channel Grigory Azaryonok told the ONT TV channel, BelTA informs.
“I see that today he is the strongest political leader on the European continent,” Grigory Azaryonok said.
The TV presenter noted that he had been supporting the head of state since school, but the events of the past year made him double down on it. First of all, this pertains to Belarus' response to COVID-19. “For me, the situation with the COVID-19 was defining, because I saw that it sent the entire world over the edge – these tensions were stronger than the political tensions now. Everyone yielded to this insanity - lockdowns, shutdowns. Only our president said: “I will not destroy my people, their health and the economy for the sake of your intra-elite games,” the journalist noted.
Another defining moment, according to Grigory Azaryonok, was that Belarus did not close churches for Easter and gave people the opportunity to celebrate this holiday.
“These are historical deeds. They deserve to be immortalized in books of the same scale as The Odyssey, The Iliad, And Quiet Flows the Don,” the TV presenter is convinced.
