Notary chambers of Belarus, Uzbekistan sign cooperation memorandum

MINSK, 19 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian Chamber of Notaries and the Notary Chamber of Uzbekistan have signed a cooperation memorandum, BelTA learned from the Belarusian notary chamber's website.

The initiative of the Uzbek side to document the cooperation that had been established was approved by the board of the Belarusian Chamber of Notaries. The document was signed by Chairwoman of the Belarusian Chamber of Notaries Natalya Borisenko and Chairman of the Notary Chamber of Uzbekistan Dilshod Ashurov. It was an online ceremony. The sides will exchange hardcopies of the memorandum soon.

The two sides have been actively cooperating for several years. Tighter cooperation was prompted by reforms of the notary system in Uzbekistan and the interest of the colleagues in the experience of the notary system's reorganization in Belarus as well as in the new competences of notary officers. The discussion continued during an online seminar after the official part. Over 200 representatives of notary communities of Belarus and Uzbekistan took part in the seminar.

On 1 May 2020 the state notary system in Uzbekistan was reformed into a non-state system. A system of private notary officers became operational. The Notary Chamber of Uzbekistan was founded with branches in every region of the country. At present over 95% of the existing notary officers in Uzbekistan work in private practice. The government is considering limiting the maximum number of notary officers the country needs.
