Ninth day on Polish border for refugees: Trying to sleep on concrete

GRODNO, 16 November (BelTA) – The refugees have been stranded at the Belarusian-Polish border for nine days already. They spent the night right on the cold concrete at the entrance to the checkpoint, many of them did not manage to fall asleep, BelTA has learned.

“It is very cold. It least it was not snowing. I slept for two hours at best. It is true, we have neither water nor food, but all we want is to get to Poland at last or go further to the EU,” one of the refugees said. He hopes that the situation will be resolved soon.

Polish security officials remain on duty behind the barbed wire. The amount of hardware increased overnight: four water cannons are already on standby in the narrow section of the entrance to the Polish checkpoint. They are facing a refugee camp with children and women.
