National Geographic Israel to explore Brest Oblast, Belovezhskaya Pushcha

MINSK, 14 February (BelTA) – Belarus' National Tourism Agency will take National Geographic Israel representatives on a press tour around Belarusian regions on 14-21 February. The co-organizer of the press tour is the sport and tourism department of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee, Denis Nikityuk, head of tourism at the department, told BelTA.

The Israeli journalists will also see Minsk and Minsk Oblast. On 18-19 February they will be touring Brest Oblast. The guests will visit Belovezhskaya Pushcha, the farmsteads of Kamenets District and Kobrin District, the agro-town Motol in Ivanovo District. In Brest, they will go on the city tour and see the Brest Hero Fortress Memorial.

Brest Oblast is of interest to tourists from Israel, mainly individual and family groups,. In 2018, the flow of tourists from Israel increased 1,5 times as against in 2017. “It is intercultural relations and our shared history that attract guests here. Many well-known Israelis hail from the Polesye region,” Denis Nikityuk said. “Israeli partners are considering organizing extended tours to Brest Oblast. We do everything possible to encourage foreign tour operators to step up cooperation,” he noted.

Brest airport can make a significant contribution to cooperation in tourism. “Belarus and Israel have signed a visa-free travel agreement. Brest airport may accommodate low-cost airlines in the future. The Brest airport jointly with the Belaeronavigation air navigation services company is working on potential flight routes, including to Israel. Israelis are active travelers. For Belarusians Israel is a popular vacation spot," Denis Nikityuk said.
