MPs to promote Belarus' security initiatives in international arena

MINSK, 28 June (BelTA) – MPs will promote Belarus' initiatives aimed at improving the architecture of international security, cooperation and trust in the international arena, Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko said at the close of the sixth session of the lower house of Belarusian Parliament, BelTA has learned.

MPs are in for an eventful international program in the interim period. They are expected to attend the 28th session of the Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference in Norway, the fourth meeting of the Speakers of the Eurasian Countries' Parliaments in Kazakhstan, the 40th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly in Thailand, and the 141st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Serbia. “The participation of MPs in these events should be used to strengthen sovereignty and active promotion the Belarusian initiatives aimed at the improvement of the architecture of international security, cooperation and trust in the international arena,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.

In the near future, Belarusian MPs will visit Luxembourg to take part in the 28th annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. The agenda of the session will include the draft Belarusian resolution on cooperation in technological forecast.

During the sixth session, the MPs have built a good basis for promoting bilateral ties. This has been helped by official visits to Belarus of the head of the National Council of Slovakia, the parliamentary delegations of China and Tajikistan. Vladimir Andreichenko described the meeting with the Egyptian president as meaningful and constructive. Successful were regular rounds of consultations with colleagues from Germany and Latvia, international organizations and heads of diplomatic missions of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Canada, the Republic of Korea and Romania, the speaker said.

The visit of Belarusian MPs to Japan contributed to the development of trade and economic, educational and cultural relations. “Now it is very important to build up clear work to implement all the agreements and to set new more specific goals of cooperation which can be fulfilled by the new legislature,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.
