MINSK, 2 December (BelTA) - Patriotic education of youth is receiving special attention in the draft of Belarus’ social and economic development program for 2026-2030, MP of the House of Representatives Sergei Klishevich said during a round table on the Role of the Belarusian People’s Congress as a Guarantor of Political Stability, Sovereignty, and Civil Accord, BelTA has learned.

The social and economic development program for the next five years will be considered at the second session of the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress which is due to take place in Minsk on 18-19 December. “This program is the foundation for Belarus’ development, which will determine what our country will be like not just in five years, but in 10, 15, 20, and 30 years. This does not allow us to make mistakes in any areas, especially concerning the economy and politics. Therefore, of course, this document must be polished and undergo public examination. The Belarusian People’s Congress, as an important expert body, will give it a comprehensive assessment and direct our entire society towards fulfilling the tasks defined as priorities,” Sergei Klishevich said.

The draft program also reflects such topics as youth policy and the patriotic education of the population. “One can achieve great success in the economy, earn substantial money, but overlook matters of education. And then that money will work not for creation, but for destruction. This has happened in many states. To a certain extent, such preconditions existed in our country as well. Thank goodness we dealt with it, learned from our mistakes. Today, the patriotic upbringing of citizens and youth engagement are among the top priorities. The economy, comfortable living conditions, the opportunity to work and earn a decent living must go hand in hand with patriotic education. Only then can we say that we will discuss the five-year plan in the same positive and constructive key in 5 and 10 years, looking confidently into the future,” the MP said.

He also stressed the need for public outreach and awareness efforts. “It is important for us that this is all clearly communicated, so that every person in society understands their role in implementing the social and economic development program,” Sergei Klishevich said.
