Mogilev students to take part in cooking contest in Poland

MOGILEV, 9 November (BelTA) – A team of three students of Mogilev State University have passed an elimination round and got an invitation to take part in the 10th edition of the all-Poland culinary contest Polish Cuisine in Mazovia 2018 (Kuchnia Polska na Mazowszu 2018), BelTA learned from Deputy Rector of the university, national expert of WorldSkills Belarus (cooking skills) Olga Matsikova.

The contest is meant for students studying commercial cookery at various educational institutions of Poland. The Mogilev team will take part in this contest for the first time. Egor Okunev and Ekaterina Churbanova will cook main courses and appetizers and compete in the Chef category, while Daria Erofeyenko will take an English-language test for the knowledge of classical traditions of serving customers in a restaurant and will demonstrate her skills in styling a table and serving customers in a hotel room.

Teachers and students will give a master class in cooking potato pancakes (draniki).

The contest is designed to improve students' cooking skills, encourage their creativity, expand knowledge in customer service, improve their professional skills and forge contacts between educational institutions offering commercial cookery courses.

“We really hope that our students will demonstrate a high professional level and get high scores from the jury,” Olga Matsikova said.
