Minsk Vice Mayor Andrei Strigelsky spoke about the significance of the holiday: "The holiday once again emphasizes that Belarusians must be united in their aspirations to make the country better, more recognizable, and stronger on the international stage. The assembly and festive concert are city events that bring together the city’s active members. We want to use creative performances to showcase the history of the formation of Belarusian statehood.”

Chairman of the Minsk City Council of Deputies Artem Tsuran noted that in the lead-up to the holiday, media often discuss statehood and identity.

Many events have taken place on the territory of Belarus. It has always been located a place not only at the crossroads of trade routes but also of military campaigns. People had to defend their homeland. According to Minsk Mayor Vladimir Kukharev, it was these very difficulties that forged an unyielding mentality and a sense of independence.

"The core idea, one way or another, revolves around what unites us. So how do we make our country even stronger and more independent, so that the younger generation can face the future with more confidence? History is our anchor at key moments. But ahead of us we also have the goals of our society, of our young state, which were set by our leader. These goals were set for a reason: it was necessary to stop the most negative processes that had taken root in society and the economy. And then the goals were aimed at creating and strengthening the country. Thanks to this, we live and plan our future,” Artem Tsuran noted.

“In 1939, after the reunification, the country had a new surge of energy and inspiration. Everyone understood that they needed to continue building their future, which, unfortunately, was interrupted by the Great Patriotic War. It seemed Minsk was impossible to restore and rebuild. There were proposals to move the capital and build a new city. But the people said that it was possible, that was our city and our country, we would make it more beautiful and better. In the shortest possible time, factories and enterprises were built that gave life to the city, and along with them, hospitals, schools, and kindergartens,” Vladimir Kukharev emphasized.
