MINSK, 5 February (BelTA) – Deputy Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade (MART) Natalya Vasilevskaya provided commentary on the president’s decision to postpone the scheduled increase in housing and utilities tariffs for households from 1 January to 1 March 2026, BelTA has learned.
In Belarus, utility tariffs are usually revised twice a year, on 1 January and 1 June. This year, following a government proposal, the head of state took an unprecedented step by moving the planned 1 January increase to 1 March. Natalya Vasilevskaya clarified that, as usual, the tariffs for heat and hot water will still rise on 1 June.
“Climate conditions have changed this year. The consumption of thermal energy significantly exceeded the norm. Postponing the tariff adjustment was therefore the correct decision to mitigate the higher usage and rising tariffs,” the deputy minister emphasized.
