MINSK, 24 March (BelTA) – In order to monitor the implementation of the Treaty on Security Guarantees within the Union State, an institute of special representatives will be created in the near future using the capacities of the foreign ministries of Belarus and Russia, State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich said on the air of the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.
“In order to oversee [the implementation of] this treaty, there are plans to set up an institute of special representatives in the near future using the capacities of the foreign ministries of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus. They will monitor the implementation of this treaty and develop proposals if necessary. While implementing strategic planning documents, the security concept, and the military doctrine, Belarus and the Russian Federation are taking practical steps envisaged in the treaty on security guarantees, so this is a unique and important document,” Aleksandr Volfovich remarked.
He noted that Western countries are speaking out against the Union State of Belarus and Russia. “The West does not like the steps we are taking with the Russian Federation, and in general our union, our association, the Union State. It is making Western politicians nervous today,” said the state secretary of the Security Council.
