Hardware upgrade to reduce customs control time at Belarusian-Polish border

GRODNO, 11 December (BelTA) – The complete modernization of local area networks in the border checkpoints Bruzgi and Berestovitsa will make the border crossing experience more comfortable for transporters and travelers, representatives of the Grodno Oblast branch of the Belarusian customs service told BelTA.

Hardware replacement will make the storage and transmission of customs data and personal data of the people, who cross the border, more secure. Customs control time will be reduced. “We intend to offer more comfortable border crossing experience to transporters and travelers, including participants of the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019,” said the source.

State-of-the-art uninterrupted power supply units will protect the equipment and will keep the border checkpoints working if the power grid needs maintenance or experiences an emergency.

Equipment modernization is part of the international technical aid project designed to improve border management operations in the automobile border checkpoints Bruzgi and Berestovitsa. It is being implemented by the Grodno Regional Customs in association with the State Customs Committee and Poland's Podlaskie Voivodeship within the framework of the 2014-2020 Poland-Belarus-Ukraine transboundary cooperation program. The European Union has allocated about €1 million for this purpose.
