MINSK, 12 December (BelTA) - Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, First Deputy Defense Minister of Belarus Pavel Muraveiko revealed the details regarding the premise for Belarus’ defense in 2026-2030 approved by the Belarusian president following the session of the Security Council on 12 December, BelTA has learned.
According to Pavel Muraveiko, the premise is a system document that forms the foundation of strategic defense planning. It contains five major areas.
“[The major areas include] decreasing the level of military danger, preventing military conflicts (the actions we will take in political, economic, information and military domains to ensure this), preparing the state for defense, which covers all areas from the economy to the military sector. It also provides for options for the armed defense of the country in various modern conflicts and preparation of the economy and the state itself to work in warfare," he stated.
Such aspects as “maintenance of international peace and security, prevention of various kinds of events that may affect the security of our country” are of great importance, he added.
Pavel Muraveiko pointed out that the defense premise describes these provisions in detail. The document defines a set of measures and state bodies that will implement them. “All this we will later transform into the Defense Plan of the Republic of Belarus,” he summed up.
