French military to inspect Belarusian army unit on 25-29 March

MINSK, 25 March (BelTA) – An inspection group from France will be in Belarus on 25-29 March in line with the 2011 Vienna Document and the Conventional Forces in Europe Treaty (CFE Treaty), representatives of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

The inspection group will visit the northwestern operational command. The group will choose one army unit to inspect in line with the CFE Treaty.

The group will evaluate the information Belarus provides to the OSCE member states within the framework of the 2011 Vienna Document on Confidence- and Security-Building Measures. The information refers to personnel numbers, main weapon systems and military hardware. The inspection is supposed to verify that the amount of weapons and military hardware on site match the numbers Belarus has released in accordance with the Conventional Forces in Europe Treaty.

The inspection group will include seven French military inspectors, one inspector from Germany, and another one from Poland.
