MINSK, 6 April (BelTA) – As of 1 April 2020, over 82,125 family capital deposits for large families were opened in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Labor and Social Security Ministry.
Over 82,125 family capital deposit accounts worth more than $812.15 million have been opened in Belarus under the 2015-2019 family capital program. Some 910 family capital deposit accounts to the tune of Br20.475 million have been opened under the program for the new five-year period (2020-2024).
The amount of family capital under the program designed to run in 2015-2019 totals $10,000 in equivalent. It can be claimed after the birth or adoption of a third or subsequent child in the period from 1 January 2015 to 31 December 2019. Thus, people can apply for the family capital till 30 June 2020 inclusively, but no later than six months from the date of birth (adoption) of a third or subsequent child.
The family capital under the new program equals Br22,500. It can be claimed after the birth or adoption of a third or subsequent child in the period from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2024.
As of 1 April this year, 11,748 families applied for the early disposal of family capital funds. Of them, 10,968 applicants (94%) said they will spend the funds to improve housing conditions, 462 (4%) on education, 318 (2%) on medical services.
